FAVARH’s School-to-Work program prepares students for their approaching adult roles. We begin working with families, Boards of Education, and individual PPT teams as early as age 14 on a consultative basis and students may begin participating in adult transition programs on a part-time basis as early as age 16. By age 21, students are either attending full time or nearly full time as they approach graduation. We offer school-year programs and summer program options. These may include instruction and experience in life skills training, job readiness skills, paid employment, volunteer employment, functional academics, community integration, and more.

Students may also be interested in participating in one or more of our extended day options including Independence Academy, our Creative Arts programs, Special Olympic team sports, recreation and leisure activities, club activities, and more. In addition, in-home “independent life skill training” is available and helps prepare students for living in one of our supported apartment programs down the road.

Accessing these options in addition to job readiness skills and paid employment can put a student on a track for the FAVARH VIP program, an exclusive and comprehensive approach to independent living. For others for whom independent living is not part of the near future plan, these options will still help them develop greater independence, enhanced self esteem, and a social network of friends and colleagues.
