Deirdre McCall, DSP

Before joining Favarh's residential program as a Direct Support Professional in 2018, Deirdre McCall had already lived a life defined by resilience and compassion. As a devoted single mom, she dedicated herself to caring for her daughter Nadira, born prematurely without the use of her arms and legs, who tragically passed away at the tender age of eleven.

Following a period of profound grief, Deirdre channeled her strength into a new purpose. Embracing the role of a direct support professional (DSP) for teenagers under the care of the state's Department of Children and Families (DCF), she not only found solace in helping others but also excelled in her commitment. Over time, her dedication led her to a supervisory role in a DCF group home, a testament to her resilience and leadership.

During her professional journey, Deirdre pursued academic excellence and earned her master's in criminal justice. Today, her work as a DSP at Favarh is her second job, which she passionately fulfills on Sundays and Monday evenings during the overnight shift at Favarh’s Main Street Group Home. For Deirdre, the residents she assists have become extended family, and she takes immense joy in preparing them for their days, ensuring they wake up feeling comfortable after a restful night's sleep.

What sets Deirdre apart is not just her commitment to her residents but also her drive to achieve personal goals. Working two jobs, she aspires to save up for a home purchase and fulfill her passion for travel. Favarh is fortunate to have Deirdre as a cherished member of our team and appreciates her choice to make Favarh’s Main Street a home away from home. Her enduring commitment to the residents of Main Street is a source of inspiration and gratitude for all who have the privilege of knowing her. ❤
