Joyce Opoku’s journey with Favarh’s Day Program began in 2017, when she started working as a direct support professional. From the very start, Joyce found a deep sense of fulfillment in her role, drawn to the opportunity to help individuals meet their goals. “I really like helping them meet their goals,” she says with a warm smile. The joy she feels in her work is matched by her appreciation for the supportive and collaborative team at Favarh.
Joyce consistently shares her experiences and knowledge with her co-workers and is frequently sought after for guidance. She is well-known for mentoring new staff when they begin at the Day Program location. Her friendly demeanor helps staff feel comfortable and confident around her.
Joyce's passion for helping others extends beyond meeting daily needs. She loves engaging in various activities, especially those involving art. “I enjoy providing care, helping with activities, and most of all, assisting with artwork,” Joyce shares. She finds great joy in seeing the smiles on the faces of those she supports, knowing she has made a positive impact on their day.
Born in Ghana, West Africa, Joyce has lived in the United States for over 25 years. Her jovial personality and great sense of humor make her a beloved figure at Favarh. Outside of work, Joyce cherishes spending time with her family and traveling with friends. She makes it a point to visit Ghana every year, reconnecting with her roots and spending quality time with her family.
